The Gift

Gifts are a sign of Love. Most people give gifts in the wrong spirit. I am not talking about birthday gifts or Christmas gifts even though these are an exchange of love. What I am talking about is giving as the Spirit leads.

There would be no hunger, there would be no homeless, there would be no sickness and there would be no lack if every person gave as the Spirit leads. In reality it is not yours to begin with. All you have is a gift from God and it is meant to be shared with others.

In every gift you give there is a seed planted of greater blessings returned to you. I use to refuse gifts but then I realized that by doing so I was withholding the return blessing this person would receive. Now no matter how small or large the gift is I accept the gift in the spirit it was given, knowing that this person will be blessed.

What most people don't realize is that every gift they give is a sign of their abundance. Some of the richest people today started on their road to wealth by giving. When the Spirit brought to their awareness a need that they could meet they gave without thought of what return they may receive. This is called giving from the heart. Most of the time it is a blessing in itself to be able to give.

I am not just talking about money here. I am also talking about giving of your time and your talent. Go within and ask the Spirit what you may do or give to help others. When you see a need that is in your power to fulfill do it without thought of the burden it may place on your resources. By helping other people meet their needs you will find that your needs are also met sometimes from sources that you did not expect.

Don't let anyone tell you what to give or what not to give. Give as the Spirit leads and you will be blessed beyond measure. Give from the heart and not from the mind. Give without expecting anything in return. Be a joyful giver knowing you are blessing others and are being blessed yourself by the gifts you are able to give. Give and it will be given to you.
